I'm really a beaver

On Wednesday I went to a seminar "Personal and Professional Success".  It was being conducted by someone I used to work with who I really looked up to and always found to be such an inspiration (also 6 ceu's= double bonus).  This seminar was to focus on writing a personal mission statement, setting personal and professional goals, taking responsibility for your attitude, maintaining positive relationships, etc.  I needed this.  This seminar was fantastic and gave me all sorts of ideas of how to live a happier life and really focus on what matters most.  Anyway, we did this fun little personality test and it turns out I'm really a beaver:
Beavers keep a close watch on their emotions- usually
Beavers actually read instruction books- Check
Beavers like to make careful decisions- Check
Beavers like to use their critical skills to solve problems- Check
Beavers live by the motto "Let's do this right"- Absolutely
Beavers tend to turn anger inward- Check
Beavers tend to focus on the past- not so much

I've been on this mission lately to reduce the stress in my life, count my blessings and not be so particular about everything.  The motto "Let's do this right" can really get me into trouble.  To me, doing things right means doing things perfectly....and being perfect at everything....and thinking everyone around me should try to be perfect too.  It leads to disappointment and a lot of self criticism. Not good.  So someone asked me "what if perfect is wrong and good enough is right?"  Hmmm..... It's really helped me to redefine what perfect means to me....and I've decided perfect for me might be 50%.  So if only half of my knitting projects turn out perfect, if only half of what Jack eats is organic, if I only find coupons for only half of the items on my grocery list, if only half of Jack's outfits are perfectly cute and coordinated, if only half of the meals I make are homemade, if only half of my house is cleaned, if only half of my photographs turn out perfect, if I get through only half of the books I get from the library, if I find the perfect Christmas gift for only half of the people on my list then I'm doing pretty damn good.
